Christmas at Sir Bani Yas Island

We have just come back from a magical two nights at Sir Bani Yas Island. We were so lucky to have such an unusual Christmas this year. It was filled with all the restorative vibes that only nature can bring.

The island has an active conservation and breading program to re-introduce extinct and endangered animals into the wider region. It is home to many species, from Arabian oryx, Somali ostrich, gazelle and deer to reticulated giraffes, dolphins and sea turtles. Many of the more than one-hundred species of wild birds which can be found on the island are indigenous to the region. The island is home to around 30 species of mammals, including a variety of antelope and one of the world’s largest herd of endangered Arabian oryx.
